Weekend

Well, B1, B2, and I are having a girls' weekend. Hubby is having a boys' weekend with a friend. They went to Peoria, IL to watch some hockey games (Dan and Mary, they might call you guys!), do some gambling, and possibly head over to Bloomington for a basketball game. So tonight, the girls and I went to the Korte Rec Center in Highland and swam for awhile. Then we had Chinese food for dinner and eventually headed to Wal-Mart to do our shopping. I don't know what our plans are going to be for tomorrow yet. I am going to check the movie listings to see if there is anything appropriate out there for a 7 and 11 year old. We will also prepare some snack foods for a trivia night at church on Sunday night. I miss Hubby when he is gone, but I do like having the bed to myself once in awhile! I can stretch out!

Update on my mom: she is still feeling very weak and tired. However, today marks 4 weeks since she has had to have a blood transfusion. She has not had platelets since then either. We take this as encouraging news. Maybe her bone marrow is doing what it is supposed to be doing??? She had a doctor check on Tuesday and he told her not to come back for 10 days, which is the longest span of time she has gone between seeing doctors since this all began in December. She is taking A LOT of different medications as treatment now and we are thinking that that is what is causing her to be so weak. She is going to inquire more about this at her next visit. Please keep the prayers coming.

Do YOU Text?

Who out there text messages? I remember the first time a friend of mine received a text. I wondered what the heck she was talking about. But now, I don't think Hubby and I could survive without being able to text. Well, I know we could, but we have gotten so used to it that we do it more often than we realize! Oftentimes, on holidays, I will text several people (usually current or former students) and wish them a good day. It's fun to get messages back! I remember back in August, when we received our cell phone bill, it was over twice as much as usual! Part of this was due to the fact that we had been in Canada on vacation and didn't pay attention to roaming time, etc. But another factor was that I had sent "group" texts on July 4. We went directly to the cell phone place and upped our texting options. Now, Hubby has his basketball players texting him all time. He sends and receives more messages than I do now! It really does come in handy though, like when we were in Vegas, sitting at a slot machine, and we didn't want to be carrying on a full conversation so the person next to us could listen. Does everyone rely on this cell phone feature as much as I do?

Photos from Vegas

We went to Las Vegas last weekend along with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. We had an awesome time together! We all got along really well and did almost everything together. I got to eat crab legs at my favorite crab leg place, the Mandalay Bay, and I also got cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory! YUM!

Hubby and me at the airport the night we left. Hubby, his mom, and his sister playing the slots at our hotel, the 4 QueensI love this picture! Here we are in front of the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. I want to stay at this one sometime!

Here we are in front of the Excalibur. I think this one looks really neat too!

Here is Hubby with a Vegas show girl, dressed in the typical feathers and beads!
Hubby, Mom, and Sis waiting inside Bally's for the Price is Right show that we saw! See the name tags!
Here I am with the host of the Vegas Price is Right show. He is actually the host of the game show "Whammy" on the Game Show Network.
We went to the South Point Casino one night so I could watch this PRINCE impersonator. I loved Prince when I was in high school. This guy is better than the real thing! I saw him 3 years ago in Vegas and made it a point to find him this time too! He really is awesome.....he looks, sounds, and even dances like Prince. I was on Cloud 9! The other 3 in my group gambled while I watched the show.
This was during the song "Raspberry Beret." See the fluzy girl dancing with her hat on?
I took this picture while we were driving back from the Prince show. The car was moving and I was sure I did not get the picture, but I did!
This is Snoop Dog in the navy letterman-like coat. He was filming a video on Fremont Street one night. He was the only celebrity we saw in Vegas.
Here we are at breakfast at the restaurant inside our hotel, which was really pretty good!
Inside Caesar's Palace. Remember when Joey on "F*R*I*E*N*D*S" worked as one of these guys?
I like this picture too! The lights behind us are awesome, and notice the Bally's sign? Typical VEGAS, baby!!!
I took this picture to show B1 and B2. I tried to explain how everything in Vegas is lit up in neon, even the McDonald's! They didn't really understand what I was talking about, so I took the picture for them.
Here we are on Fremont Street, in front of our hotel. We were waiting for the lazer light show.

Hubby and Me

What is his name?
Bruce Alan Frank
How long have you been together?
Together 20 years this March, married 15 years this July
How long did you date?
5 years, 4 months
How old is he?
38 at the moment (will be 39 in 15 days)
Who eats more?
We can both make a pretty mean dent in food, but overall, I guess he does
Who said I love you first?
I seriously don't remember. It was pretty mutual
Who is taller?
He's 6', I am 5'4"
Who can sing better?
Neither of us. He says that he thought all girls could sing until he met me!
Who is smarter?
HUH? I am smarter at math, he is smarter at coaching, we are even when it comes to raising our children.
Who does the laundry?
I do more but he helps out. He is good at folding!
Who pays the bills?
I do. He is clueless in this area.
Who sleeps on the right side?
Looking at the bed...I do. Laying in the bed...he does.
Who mows the lawn?
He does. This is his department. Once in a GREAT WHILE, I will help him if he asks.
Who cooks dinner?
Me. His cooking consists of frozen pizza or maybe baking some chicken patties in the oven.
Who drives?
Usually him but if he's tired and asks me to drive, I do. On vacations, I'd say it's about 65% him and 35% me.
Who is more stubborn?
OH.....this is tough. We are both pretty stubborn. It used to be that he would "give in" more often, but now he actually fights back! What happened there?
Who asked out who first?
He asked me out. Our first date was to York Steak House (which used to be inside St. Clair Square mall) and then to a Blues hockey game. March 26, 1988.
Who proposed?
I guess technically he did although we had gone ring shopping together several months before we officially got engaged. By the way, we were engaged exactly 4 years later at another Blues hockey game. March 26, 1992.
Who has more friends?
Good question. We are both lucky to have a lot of good friends, and many mutual friends.
Who is more sensitive?
Me for sure. I could cry at the wedding of strangers.
Who has more siblings?
He does. He has 1 brother and 1 sister. I have 1 brother.
Who wears the pants?
Um.....after it's all said and done, me.

Mom's Pitching Lesson

So, I accompanied B1 to her pitching lesson tonight. I have never been to a pitching lesson with her. That is usually Dad's department, but tonight he had to coach a basketball game and we had no other choice. Once, in the past when Dad couldn't make it, we asked Grandpa to accompany B1 and he was happy to do so. But, with everything going on with my mom, I didn't want to ask my dad this time. So, it was up to me. There were certainly a few pitches that hurt my hand! I told her to throw some change-ups after those! I didn't wear a mask or shin guards and thankfully, I didn't need them. I don't think it was the best lesson though because it seems that many of the pitches went way to my side. And, since this was my first time, I don't have anything to compare to. But it was fun all the same and I think that B1 liked the fact that I was catching her. And.....now I know too that I can do it!
